Our 2015 Season – An Evolving Energy Vision
New York is at the forefront of a dramatic revolution in the electric power industry. Consumers are increasingly choosing to generate their own electricity and to actively manage their consumption. Meanwhile, electric utilities are operating distribution grids that are safer and more reliable than ever before. As the technologies to generate and manage electricity continue to evolve, regulators have called for an evolution of the traditional utility business model. Their goal is an energy system that incentivizes efficiency, renewable energy, and consumer choice. New York has led this effort through the State’s strategic Reforming the Energy Vision (REV) plan, with the regulatory proceeding of the plan initiated by the Public Service Commission in April of 2014. While the outcomes of the REV proceeding will be state-specific, the lessons from the process will inform the entire country.
For its 2015 season, Clean Energy Connections will highlight various aspects of the policy overhaul underway in New York through interactive discussions between technology vendors, electric utilities and energy regulators. Each of the events will be based on one of the four REV committees and subcommittees:
